No, this photo was not taken last summer. It was taken on May 12, 2015 in south Dayton!
Officially for the month of May, our temperatures were six degrees above normal, while the rainfall was three inches below normal. Not a good start for our lawns this season and summer doesn’t start for three more weeks!
Heat stress, pictured here, happens when grass releases more water than it takes in and causes it to turn brown.
Brown grass means we have unsightly turf that cannot compete with weeds, insects or disease!
Grass that receives one inch of water per week will survive any heat or drought stress conditions.
