Pests emerging soon
Japanese beetle adults will soon be emerging from the soil and attacking our roses, linden trees and other assorted landscape plants. Depending on populations they can either be treated or hand picked from the plants but DO NOT buy the beetle traps from your local garden center unless you want to attract all male beetles to your property from the surrounding area.
Bagworm eggs are also hatching so keep an eye out for these landscape pests. Bagworms need to be treated before they do damage as seen here in this photo.

As professional groundskeepers we would rather deal with a lawn or landscape that is too wet versus a lawn that is drought stressed.
Depending on where you live, Mother Nature (our friend now) delivered over 8” of rainfall this past month, more than enough water to satisfy the one inch per week required.
Last Saturday morning, June 28, I took the above photo of three active diseases in my home lawn. None of this fungus will do any damage to the turf but they sure do look bad.Here at Buckeye EcoCare we deal with disease just as our friends at OSU extension recommend. Proper nutrition, good cultural practices and smart watering will make the plants naturally recover from disease damage. When the weather changes,these diseases will disappear as quickly as they showed up.
