The first day of fall brought us 88 degree temperatures along with rising humidity levels! This was great for clients who have seeded and are now watering, but was bad for the lawns still trying to recover from the summer’s “steam bake.”
We still have very shallow roots on all of our Turfgrass plants, so the shorter days along with cooler nights will be welcomed once fall arrives for real.
For those of you who have aerated, over seeded, or slice seeded to improve your overall turf condition, please continue watering until Mother Nature turns the rain spigot back on.
Also, be patient with your new turf. Some seed can take up to 6 weeks before germination begins and the juvenile plants will not mature until they are one year old. A little patience now will pay huge dividends next spring.
