Based on the photograph above, the “Dog Days ” of summer are officially here! The recent heat, along with widely scattered rain, has left many lawns “drought stressed.”
Turf that is brown and standing up is dormant and can survive with limited water for the next 10-14 days. Turf that is tan and laying down is past dormant and requires immediate irrigation.
“Drought stressed” lawns means we put our mowers away and get the sprinklers out.
Remember, it is now August and the “Dog Days” of summer were bound to happen. The current 10 day forecast is for more heat and only scattered showers.
